A Brief History of Core Anesthesia
We all tried to find ways to fit studying into our busy schedules as students in anesthesia school. Cole and Tanner found that calling each other on the road to and from clinical was a great way to discuss the topics they were currently studying and helped them understand the boundaries of their knowledge on those topics. It wasn’t long before they realized they should be recording these conversations! We all know how fast and furious information comes at you during school and recording these conversations was their way of freezing time and documenting their learning when they knew the information the best. After doing this for a few months word got around and fellow students started using these recordings as supplements to their learning. Pretty soon, the process of emailing these recordings to each person became too great a task and Cole and Tanner decided to upload their audio to a podcast platform to streamline the process.
Just like that, CORE Anesthesia was born!
Cole and Tanner realized there was a huge gap in accessible anesthesia learning available. To that end, they set out to create an entire anesthesia curriculum that was audio-based allowing students to make use of their time on their commutes, during their workouts, or wherever they would typically podcast.
To date, CORE Anesthesia has received over 1 million podcast downloads and it is estimated that 75% of current students use their material to help study for tests and boards. In 2022 CORE Anesthesia launched its continuing education branch of the business and now offers pre-approved Class A Credits through the AANA. This is all made available on their custom mobile app created to make earning credits as seamless as possible. (Oh and did we mention for a fraction of the cost!)
The goal of Cole and Tanner has always been to make anesthesia education accessible. It has been an exciting journey to see how this company has grown from conversations in the car to a nationally valued resource for students and CRNAs alike. Don’t take our word for it –

After graduating with his DNP in 2021, Tanner joined an anesthesia group in the Phoenix, AZ area where he currently practices. He loves the outdoors and enjoys traveling to national parks with his wife.

After graduating with his DNP in 2021, Cole works as a CRNA at a level 1 trauma center in central Illinois. Cole is passionate about entrepreneurship and enjoys coupling his passion for anesthesia with his drive for business. Cole enjoys spending time with his wife and children as well as playing golf, running, and hiking.
