Core Anesthesia is one of the CRNA scholarships built specifically for nurse anesthesia students, and we award $2,000 a year to one student making a difference in the anesthesia community while still in school. Any current SRNA can apply, whatever year you’re in. Why Core Anesthesia Offers a CRNA School Scholarship

Core Anesthesia is one of the CRNA scholarships built with real staying power, and our CRNA school scholarships come from that same drive that got two CRNAs recording study sessions for each other during their commute. We’re looking for students who put in real effort for the anesthesia community while they’re still working through their program, whether that’s mentoring a classmate, advocating for their school, or building a useful resource, the same kind of student Cole and Tanner set out to be.

This is one of the scholarships for CRNA school built for students doing that work right now, and one of the few CRNA scholarships with a named sponsor behind it, LocumTenens, a staffing partner that shares our interest in supporting the next class of CRNAs. Core Anesthesia has offered scholarships for nurse anesthesia students since 2020, awarding six nurse anesthesia scholarships to students so far, and our CRNA school scholarships aren’t going anywhere.

Who Is Eligible for This SRNA Scholarship

Scholarships for CRNA students, including SRNA scholarships like this one, usually come down to two things: current enrollment in an anesthesia program, and the personal qualities our judges look for in every applicant.

Both count equally in our review, so a strong application speaks to each one instead of leaning on just one. Below, you’ll find the enrollment details and a closer look at what our judges weigh, since those are the two things worth understanding before you sit down to apply.

1. Enrollment and Program Requirements

Any current SRNA can apply for this scholarship, no matter what year they’re in, from first semester to final semester. That’s a genuinely open bar compared to most SRNA scholarships, which often only accept students in their final year.

All you need is current enrollment in an accredited anesthesia program to meet this part of the eligibility requirement, one of the more straightforward bars among SRNA scholarships generally.

2. What the Judges Look For

When our judges review each CRNA scholarship application, they’re weighing one main question: is this person putting real energy into the anesthesia community right now, while still in school. That could look like mentoring a classmate, advocating for your program at the state level, building a study resource, volunteering, or doing research.

There’s no single right answer here. We’re more interested in what you’ve actually done or plan to do than in a polished essay, so if you’ve found a way to give something back to this field while you’re still training in it, we want to hear about it.

Applying for this CRNA scholarship takes two short steps: roughly 5 to 10 minutes for your information and eligibility answers, plus four essays where you can go deeper. Most CRNA scholarships don’t ask for that many essays, so budget more time than you’d expect.

Cole Tanner will review applications for the criteria outlined above and directly confirm the winner. We’ll reach out directly by email if you’re selected, using the email address you provide on your application, so make sure it’s one you check regularly and keep an eye on your spam folder around that time.

If you don’t hear from us by early February, someone else was chosen for this cycle, and we’d genuinely encourage you to apply again next year if you’re still enrolled.

CRNA Scholarship FAQs

If you’re weighing scholarships for nurse anesthesia students, here’s what applicants ask us most about this one.

Yes, nominations go through a separate form for a $1000 scholarship. A classmate or mentor can nominate you, or you can use that same form to nominate a classmate instead. One nomination or one application is enough for us to consider you this cycle.

This is a one-time award, so it isn’t renewable in a later year. If you don’t win this cycle and you’re still enrolled next year, you’re welcome to apply again, since eligibility isn’t limited to a single year in your program.

This depends on your specific financial aid package and tax situation, so we can’t give a blanket answer here. Talk to your school’s financial aid office or a tax professional. The AANA Foundation’s own guidance on scholarship awards is a good starting point too.

Applications submitted after the deadline aren’t considered for that cycle. We recommend starting well before December 31 so you have enough time to write complete essays instead of rushing at the last minute.

A few hundred students typically apply each cycle. We don’t share this number to discourage you from applying. A strong application stands out regardless of how many people we hear from.
